GREENWOOD — Greenwood area running enthusiasts are invited to participate in the Hustle for Habitat 5K Fun Run, sponsored by the new Lander University chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Entry fee for the run, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 20 near the Horne Arena, is $20.
Proceeds will help pay for a house being built on campus by Lander students, faculty, staff and members of the community beginning Feb. 25.
After being “dried in,” the house will be moved to Kirksey Forest, off Marshall Road, where work on the interior will be completed, with participation by the family who will take ownership.
“Habitat for Humanity is a worthy cause because it offers people a ‘hand up, not a hand out,’ said Erin Garland of Lander’s Division of Student Affairs. “This house will go to a deserving family in town that will work to make it their own home.”
