NEWBERRY — A Newberry man has been charged with indecent exposure (sexual nature) by the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office after, according to the report, exposing himself to two juvenile victims on June 18.

Larry Gene Hunter Jr., of 2514 Pine Street, Newberry, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a complainant in reference to an indecent exposure incident. According to the report, the complainant told deputies that while she was at work she was notified by her child that Hunter exposed himself to the victims. The complainant told officers that the victims were playing at the incident location of 2514 Pine Street when the incident occurred, according to the report.

Upon receiving permission from the complainant, the responding deputies spoke with one of the juvenile victims about what took place. The victim said that Hunter pulled his private parts out in front of her and a second victim, the report states.

The report continues to state that once Hunter exposed himself he told the juvenile to sit on his lap, he would also attempt to get the other juvenile to expose their private parts as well.

Deputies asked the juvenile victim if they remembered any type of clothing description of Hunter; the victim advised deputies that he was wearing blue underwear, according to the report.

The juvenile victim also told deputies that Hunter allegedly touched her backside area, according to the report.

After getting testimonies from both victims, deputies responded to the incident location to speak with Hunter. According to the report, Hunter was hesitant of speaking with the deputies — the reporting deputy then took Hunter into custody.

Hunter was taken to the Newberry County Detention Center without incident where he currently remains.
