NEWBERRY — Newberry County Memorial Hospital recently named Dr. Thomas Bradberry the 2019 Physician of the Year, as voted on by NCMH staff.
Bradberry has been in Newberry since 1997 where he continues to work with Newberry Internal Medicine. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Bradberry also has professional affiliations with the American Medical Association and South Carolina Medical Association.
Bradberry was honored to receive the 2019 Physician of the Year and is looking forward to more years providing care to patients at NCMH.
”I think we have a great hospital that achieves more than hospitals of this size are expected to. We do a great job of follow-up with patients, care for patients following discharge, we have a committed staff and an excellent medical staff that works together,” he said.
Looking towards the future, Bradberry said the goal is to keep patients out of the hospital.
“Generally speaking, we take care of the older age group, they have a lot of medical problems, we address those and our goal is preventive care. In other words, keeping their conditions under control so they don’t end up in the hospital,” he said.
He added that he also enjoys working alongside Dr. Alan Paysinger and Dr. Mark Davis, whom he practices with.
Brenda Williams, director of Foundation/Marketing, said NCMH is always looking for different ways to honor their physicians and thanking them for what they do for NCMH.
“Working with our staff, they form these relationships and they’re the ones that vote on which ones they enjoy working with and being part of,” she said.
Williams added that while it is hard to choose one physician as the Physician of the Year, NCMH is fortunate to have many great physicians.
“We’re very blessed that we have a tremendous group of physicians, we are very lucky to have them. It is always a close race because we do have so many great physicians,” she said.
