NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Department, City of Newberry Police Department, S.C. Highway Patrol and MADD Newberry County are participating in Newberry County Sobriety Checkpoints.

The 2015 Labor Day Sobriety Awareness — Target Zero Campaign is scheduled August 24–September 7. Sobriety Checkpoints are programed for weekends Aug. 28-29 and Sept. 4-5. One of the most promising solutions to the Nation’s serious drinking is the use of these checkpoints on roadways. Checkpoints reduced impaired driving, save lives and get dangerous people off the road.

A Labor Day Proclamation was signed by Mayor Foster Senn and Buddy Livingston of County Council proclaiming support and encouraging use of the use of checkpoints by law enforcement.

Members of Newberry County Council, MADD Newberry County promote the 2015 safety plan with signatures.
