CHAPIN -Mrs. Helen Turner Riser, 87, formerly of Chapin, widow of her husband of 67 years, David M. Riser, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at White Oak Manor.

Born on March 2, 1925, in Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Leila Mae Allgood Turner.

She retired from Sears and was an active member of Chapin United Methodist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School class, a member of the Marjorie Derrick Circle, the Jolly Christians, and assisted with the Fall Bazaar for Chapin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and was known for her blueberry cobbler.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Kennedy and her husband, Larry of Leesville and Meredith Jackson and her husband, H.F. of Fort Mill; a son, David and his wife, Donna of Chapin; grandchildren, Paige Meredith Kennedy, David James Riser, Benjamin Wayne Riser, Kevin Franklin Jackson, Mark David Jackson, and Ryan Meredith Jackson; great-grandchildren, Ethan McAdams, Alex Jackson, Kenneth Jackson, Audrey Jackson, and Aiden Jackson.

She was predeceased by eight siblings and by a granddaughter, Leslie Dawn Kennedy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at Chapin United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jody Flowers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
