PROSPERITY — James Edward Stockman, 87, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at White Oak Manor.

Born on Jan. 27, 1925, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late J. Fredrick and Agnes Krell Stockman. He was a World War II Army veteran and was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin.

Mr. Stockman is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Amick Stockman; sons, Harroll Stockman and Carroll (Lorraine) Stockman both of Little Mountain and Tim (Mona) Stockman of Prosperity; a daughter, Pam Jenkins of Prosperity; a sister, Sara Boland of Ballentine; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, George “Bill” Stockman and Robert “Bo” Stockman, a grandson and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dave Tholstrup. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6–8 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
