NEWBERRY — Mary Ann Williamson Hembree, age 72, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at Palmetto Health Richland. She was born on Jan. 1, 1937 to the late David Lester and Annie Lee Shealy Williamson.

Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Tom) Wilson of Richmond, Va. and Missy (Anthony) Dennis of Prosperity; granddaughters, Bella Rose and Anne Mallott Wilson of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Josie W. (Buddy) Pedersen of Hopkins; brothers, David L. (Ruth) Williamson of Prosperity and Paul D. (Elizabeth) Williamson of Pomaria; a sister-in-law, Frances Williamson of Little Mountain; brothers-in-law, Dan (Tootsie) Hembree of Newberry and Doyle Hembree of Texas; a special niece, Debbie (Mike) Graham of Newberry. Mrs. Hembree was predeceased by her husband, Clyde E. Hembree Jr., a son, Scott Allen Hembree and a brother, George S. Williamson.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bob Kasting. Burial followed in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Active pallbearers: Olin C. Wessinger Jr., Justin Huffstetler, Doug Allen, Corey Graham, Doug Haltiwanger, Tommy Buzhardt, Sammy Williamson, Jody Pederson, Jeramy Oropeza and Craig Dominick.

Honorary pallbearers: Roger Hembree, Loretta and Jesse Oropeza, Betty Dominick, Dolly and Carla Creekmore, Laura Ringer, the doctors and staff of Newberry Internal Medicine, the staff of J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home, and the staff of Newberry County Council on Aging.

Special thanks to Newberry County EMS, the doctors and nurses at Palmetto Health Richland and Palmetto Health Hospice.
