SPARTANBURG — David Powell has been named interim chief executive officer for Hospice Care of South Carolina.

He has served on the senior leadership team as chief operating officer for the past three years and has been instrumental in positioning HCSC as a leading provider of end of life care services in the industry.

“Our model of care, our exceptional team members in local communities and our standard of quality have positioned HCSC to take on the ever-evolving challenges facing health care providers,” said Powell. “I am looking forward to continuing our efforts in expanding our services and expertise that set HCSC apart as the standard of end-of-life care services.”

Powell, who succeeds Dawn-Michele Teachey as CEO, completed undergrad work at Berry College in Rome, Ga., with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He has completed two master’s degrees and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Western Conservative Theological Seminary, Evangel Bible College and Christian Life School of Theology.

Powell has worked in corporate management for 18 years, including the last six years with HCSC.
