ROCK HILL — Newberry junior Romina Adum has been named the first South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week of the season.
Adum helped lead Newberry to a pair of 9-0 wins over Converse and Belmont Abbey this past week. On Saturday against the Valkyries, Adum shutout Marisa Esformes in straight sets at No. 2 singles, while also teaming with junior Susana Aguirre to defeat Olivia Self and Esformes at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
On Saturday, Adum surrendered only one game against Belmont Abbey’s Katharine Miller at No. 2 singles for a 6-0, 6-1 victory. In doubles action, Adum teamed with Aguirre to defeat Miller and Kirstie Jenkins, 8-4.
Adum is 4-0 on the season in singles play and also in doubles play, while the Wolves currently sit at 2-2 overall.
