MCMS splits with Wright

PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Middle School girls team got a win at home against Wright Middle School on Thursday while the boys took a loss.

The girls won 31-23 and improved their record to 4-5. The boys record fell to 7-2 with a 50-42 defeat by Wright.

In the girls game, Alex Fulmer led the Mid-Carolina team with eight points and had two rebounds and a steal.

Chazity Counts and Gracen Hester both scored seven points. Hester had four steals and Counts had two.

Cassi Ruff had five points, a steal and three rebounds in the game.

Both Taylor Swygert and Charlsy Traylor had two points and Traylor had two rebounds.

Merical Cromer added two rebounds and Callie Blanchard and Camyrn Long each contributed a rebound.

In the boys game, Cade Ruff was the top scorer for the Rebels with 12 points and he added two steals, three assists, a blocked shot, and rebounds. Keenan Boland was close behind with 11 points and and an assist.

Zachary Hentz had eight points but led the way in rebounds with 15. He also had three steals, two assists and two blocked shots.

Iyon Thompson and R.J. Wadsworth had four points each. Thompson made a blocked shot and six rebound. Wadsworth had two steals, a blocked shot and three rebounds. Corey Stone had three points and an assist.

Jaterran Wise made a rebound for the Rebels.
