Saluda defeats Rebels, 46-41

PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina dropped a close game on Tuesday to Saluda in a 46-41 contest.

The loss drops the Rebels record to 7-12 for the season and 2-5 for the region.

Brent Caldwell was the top scorer for Mid-Carolina with 10 points.

Chris Boyd scored seven points and was followed by Tevarres Taylor with six.

Both Cornelius Glasgow and Zach Parker scored five points.

Marcus Chapman added four points.

Danton Hyman and Marcus McMorris each scored two points for the Mid-Carolina Rebels.

Maurice Howard rallied Saluda with 14 points and was followed by Juwan Jones who scored 13 points.

The Rebels are currently in fifth place in the region.

The top four teams make the playoffs, said coach Emmanuel O. DeWalt.

The Rebels were scheduled to play Richard Winn Academy on Wednesday night but the game was postponed to Thursday night due to weather conditions. The results of the game were not available at press time.

Mid-Carolina will travel to Batesburg-Leesville on Friday and Abbeville for a game on Tuesday.

The Rebels will then face Newberry in an away game on Thursday.
