SALUDA — Despite a number of Mid-Carolina Middle School basketball players being on a Beta Club trip, both the boys and girls team defeated Saluda Middle on Thursday.
The girls won their game by just one point with a final score of 27-26 while the boys had a comfortable 47-37 win.
The Mid-Carolina girls record is now 3-4 and the boys are 6-1.
Eight members of the girls team was out of town with the Beta Club. Gracen Hester led the way for the Rebels with 13 points, a rebound and six steals. Merical Cromer, Cassie Ruff and Taylor Swygert all scored four points in the game with Saluda. Ruff picked up five rebounds, Swygert made three rebounds and Cromer had a rebound.
Alex Fulmer also made two points, 10 rebounds, and had three steals.
Cade Ruff led the boys, who were down one player due to the trip, with 10 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds.
Corey Stone was right behind Ruff with nine points, a steal, three assists and two rebounds.
Zachary Hentz followed with eight points, three steals, two assists, a blocked shot, and six rebounds. Jaterran Wise added seven points, a steal, an assist and six rebounds.
Keenan Boland contributed six points, three steals, three assists, and five rebounds. Jalen Bates Caldwell, Jeb Fulmer and Iyon Thompson-all had two points. Thompson also had a steal, an assist and three rebounds.
