SENECA — David J. Sanders Jr., 78, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, after a short illness.

David was an avid outdoorsman and automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed watercolors, crafts and gardening. He loved spending leisure time time hiking in the mountains and walking along the coast. He Was a loving husband and father. He cherished his time with family and friends, always placing the welfare of others before his own… he was a true gentleman in every regard.

David was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He attended Clemson University before starting his professional career. He was past president of the Textile Quality and Control Association. He retired from Soft Care Apparel, Inc. as a quality control manager after working over forty years in the textile industry. He was a life member of the Hiram Masonic lodge #68 in Anderson.

David was predeceased by his parents, David J. “DJ” Sanders Sr. and Della M. Burdette, and by his son, John E. Sanders.

He is survived by two sons, David J. Sanders III of Rock Hill, Stephen C. Sanders of Seneca, and two sisters, Virginia Mason and Margaret Graham, both of Seneca. He is also survived by his dearest friend, Gretchen Gray of Greenville.

Internment will be at Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.
