LITTLE MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mayers, 96, of 636 Meadowlark Road, Little Mountain, died Jan. 1 at The Lowman Home in White Rock.

Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Robert McFall and the late Trannie Hipp McFall.

She was a member of Providence A.M.E. Church in Little Mountain. She was also a member of the Women’s Home Aid Society #97.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Mayers and two sons, Nathaniel Mayers and Thaddis Mayers.

Surviving are six sons, David Mayers and Willie L. Mayers (Carolyn) of Baltimore, Md., Alvin Mayers (Carolyn), Ervin Mayers (Betty) and James S. Mayers of Columbia and Jacob Mayers of Little Mountain; two daughters, Bessie Dew (Samuel) of Irmo and Shirley A. Williams (Anthony) of Little Mountain; one sister, Louise Pendleton of Philadelphia, 37 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 46 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Ellen Mayers of Chapin and Dorothy Mayers of Newberry; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rodgers (Carl) of Columbia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services and burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Providence A.M.E. Church. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Newberry.
