POMARIA - Nora Mayer Wicker, 84, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Lexington Medical Cetner.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1928, in Peak, the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Daily Mayer.

She was the retired owner of Wicker’s Grocery, which she operated for many years with her husband, Louis Ray Wicker, by whom she was predeceased. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Chris Homesley; grandsons, Travis Ray, Christopher Cale, and Jared Hampton, all of Pomaria, and a sister, Helen M. Kiker of Peak; sister-in-law, Jillian S. Mayer of Newberry.

She was predeceased, in addition to her husband, by sisters, Lucille M. Gould and Annie M. Fanning and a brother, Herman E. Mayer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church by the Rev. Derald Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Homesley and will receive friends Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Fanning, Frank Kiker, Johnny Mayer, John Gray, Brett Wicker and Rodney Wicker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Carroll Pinner III, Dr. John Ferguson, Evelyn Nichols, Michael Crawford and Kedric Wadsworth

McSwain-Evans Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
