NEWBERRY — With all the warmth and comfort of a cup of Christmas cheer, A Christmas Carol is packed with laughter, pageantry, and gorgeous costumes.

Every memorable detail of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol spring to life, from spine-chilling ghosts to heart filled renditions traditional British carols. Featuring: Crotchety Scrooge, lovable Tiny Tim, and all the fascinating characters that audiences have come to love make Charles Dickens’ enchanting story a treasured holiday event.

The Newberry Opera House proudly hosts this holiday tradition for two enchanting performances Tuesday at 3 and 8 p.m.

Capture the magic and joy of Christmas as the ghosts of Past, Present and Future lead the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on a powerful journey of transformation and redemption.

The show follows the Dickens tale but has added plenty of traditional Christmas music, sungin the Victorian style. It is simply a rousing good time and joyus celebration of the holidays. Songs range from “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman” and not so familiar numbers like “Susanni”, a german melody.

The great sets and scenery help to create the rich tapestry that has made this story timeless. The stage transforms, in just a matter of seconds, from a street scene from 1843 London to Scrooge’s bedroom, then to a Victorian parlor room. The fireplace that Jacob Marley enters through is very eerie, and the special effects make the moment complete… and then there are the ghosts.

Come one, come all! Don’t miss this holiday tradition at the Newberry Opera House. Tickets are available at the Newberry Opera House box office. For reservations call 276-6264 or visit our website www.newberryoperahouse.com
