Stress – It is one of the characteristics attacking chamber members this time of year.
Webster’s defines stress as a force that tends to strain or deform; mental, emotional, or physical tension; or appear to put pressure on.
Notice that Webster’s never names who or what is applying the element that causes stress. Ever consider that any stress you are experiencing can be controlled by you?
Realizing this fact could be your first step to freedom. Consider that wherever there is stress, there is also a challenge, or an opportunity.
Here at your chamber, we have certainly had the opportunity to feel stress due to businesses closing their doors, leaving many of us feeling disheartened because we know we will miss these businesses.
So what are we going to do? We are seeing these closings as opportunities to attract new businesses to Newberry. Will we be successful?
We do not know, but we will be out there trying to bring new chamber members to Newberry to fill the empty storefronts.
The holiday season can often cause stress as well: folks worrying about the whats, whos, and ifs regarding gifting; folks worrying about what to wear to parties and why they were not invited to certain events; and many other small forces just waiting to cause one to seemingly explode.
Why not take a moment and consider just what/why you are really on this earth? Chances are you just might realize you are better off than you thought.
Each of us is special and brings something completely different to the table.
Remember this, “In every defeat, there is another opportunity; you just have to look for it.” Your dream is awaiting, reach for it.
Have you ever considered gifting a chamber membership to one of your close friends? Attending our monthly events might be just what they, or you, need to succeed.
The cost of chamber membership is easily offset by the rewards one receives at monthly events. For membership gifting ideas, simply call Liz, Michelle, or me at (803) 276-4274.
