RENTON, Wash. — Former Newberry College defensive back Ron Parker finds himself back in the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday, as he was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks for their 53-man active roster from the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
This is Parker’s third stint with the Seahawks, who he played two games for in 2011 and practiced with in training camp in 2012. He was on the Panthers’ active roster for three games earlier this season, recording one tackle, which happened to come against the Seahawks in a game Seattle won 16-12.
Seattle head coach Pete Carroll addressed the team’s cornerback situation with Seahawks.com and said Parker will be in competition for the team’s fourth cornerback spot after Brandon Browner was suspended by the NFL for four games for violation of the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances.
Parker and the Seahawks put an undefeated home record on the line Sunday when they host the Arizona Cardinals at 4:15 p.m. Eastern.
The game will be on Fox in the Pacific Northwest and parts of the Southwest, but will be unavailable to viewers near Newberry without DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket package.
