NEWBERRY — Ethel Suber Smith, 90, formerly of 1508 Wheeler St., Newberry, widow of Thomas C. Smith, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Springfield Place.
Mrs. Smith was born on Nov. 22, 1921 in Pomaria a daughter of the late Willie J. Suber Sr. and Edna Leitzsey Suber.
She was a graduate of Newberry College, a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, a Sunday school teacher and a weekday church school teacher.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (George) Higingbottom of Batesburg, Elaine (Don) Story of Columbia and Frances (Danny) Abrams of Newberry; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Higingbottom of Liberty, Travis (Rebekah) Higingbottom of Lexington, Will and Lauren Hood both of Columbia, Danielle Abrams and Jared Abrams both of Newberry; great-grandsons, Parker Higingbottom, and Ayden, Noah, and Easton Higingbottom; sisters, Cornelia Long and Elizabeth (Harvey) Berley both of Pomaria, Mathilde Smith of Newberry and Marie (Dan) Sandel of Chapin; brother, W. Jacob (Helen) Suber Jr. of Pomaria; and a sister-in-law, Katie Suber of Pomaria. She was predeceased by her brother Tommie Suber and brothers-in-law, Mark Smith and Pat Long.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Whitesides. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
Pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Vernon Smith, Dale Smith, Russell Suber, John Paul Whitaker, Steve Sandel, Warren Sandel, and Frank Sligh.
