Calhoun Street office complex catches fire

An early Friday morning fire has damaged an office complex in downtown Newberry.

Between 1:30 and 2 a.m. fighters from Newberry, Friendly and Prosperity were called to Calhoun Street where Palmettto Smiles and a hair salon are located.

The fire was in the attic portion of the building and firefighters are still determining the cause.

Also firefighters will work this morning to determine the amount of damage.

This is the fourth fire in the Newberry area that firefighters responded to in a 24 hour period.

The first was between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Thursday on Adam Teseniar Road where a house was totalled.

Also heavily damaged was a home on Nance Street on Thursday afternoon and another on home was totalled later Thursday afternoon on Oxner Road.
