The officers were looking for those violating traffic laws and driving under the influence.

The crack down came as the traffic fatalities have increased over 125 percent this year.

Newberry police charged 12 people withe speeding violations, 18 for not wearing seat belts, two child restraint violations, two for disregarding a stop sign, one for operating an uninsured vehicle, two for violation of window tinting laws, one drug violations and 32 charges were made for other violations.

Also police were able to arrest a fugitive during the operation.
