PROSPERITY — Funeral services for Mr. J.C. “Big Mose” Matthews will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Philippi Baptist Church cemetery in Saluda.

Mr. Matthews passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Lexington Medical Extended Care. Born in Saluda, he was the son of the late Jacob Gilree and the late Carrie Lee Matthews. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and a retiree of Glenn Mills Trucking.

Mr. Matthews was predeceased by a sister, Ida Mae Toland and a brother, Tommy Lee Matthews.

Surviving are his wife, Mamie Gallman Matthews; raised in the home as his sons, Johnny Gallman of Philadelphia, Pa., Myron Gallman of Prosperity; one sister, Lottie Bell Gallman of Saluda; three grandchildren, devoted nieces, Vickie Gallman, Deosha Gallman, Tashay Gallman; three sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives.
