Search underway for WPS officer who shot wife

WINNSBORO — SLED and Fairfield County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a Winnsboro Public Safety officer whom SLED said shot his estranged wife on Sunday evening.

According to Tom Berry with SLED public affairs, the incident involved officer Michael Bernard Roseboro.

He and his wife were in some sort of dispute Sunday evening that ended in gunfire with Roseboro shooting her.

The victim was transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Roseboro was on duty at the time of the incident which occurred at 140B Eighth Street. Roseboro, 41, is a black male about 6’ weighing 150 lbs.

He was last seen leaving the incident in his patrol car, a white Ford Crown Victoria with Winnsboro Public Safety markings.

SLED is conducting a search at this time both on the ground and in the air.
