PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Rebels fell to the Abbeville Panthers Friday night in a 37 to zero shutout.
The Panthers made few mistakes and showed Mid-Carolina why they have won state championship titles the past two years, and have four other state titles in addition to the past two years.
The Rebels were able to move the ball, but were unable to capitalize on any drive. The Panthers did capitalize on several drives and took advantage of a Mid-Carolina fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
The Rebels came back in the second half able to slow down the Panthers, but the Panthers proved too powerful for the Rebels.
The Rebels meet the Bulldogs this Friday at Lon Armstrong Stadium in a battle for the Hedgepath trophy.
Mid-Carolina won the Bell in the first “Battle of the Bell” with Chapin and they hope to bring home the Hedgepath trophy to set beside the bell.
