ELGIN — James Stanley “Bootsie” Lewis, 61, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his residence.

Born on Jan. 22, 1951, in Newberry, he was a son of Mary Virginia Street Lewis and the late William F. Lewis. He was employed by the South Carolina Budget and Control Board and was an avid Clemson fan.

He is survived by his mother of Newberry; sons, Brent Lewis and his wife Deena of Newberry, and Heath Lewis of Elgin; a brother, David Lewis of Augusta; aunts, Fern L. Bickley, Nancy Griffin, and Freddie Mills and her husband W.H.; an uncle, Fred Street; and grandchildren, Cooper and Lillian Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Whitesides. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Glenn Street Baptist Church, 300 Glenn St., Newberry, SC 29108.
