Mid-Carolina unfortunately suffered another region loss on Friday but was not as much of a loss as the school’s friends in Hartsville.

Heartfelt prayers go out to the Hartsville community as they get through the tough time of loosing an 18 year old on a high school football field.

Mid-Carolina played Hartsville for the first game of the season and big number 74 made his presence known quite often. He will surely be missed in more ways than one.

The game Friday night was a fight from the start as Saluda began their scoring drives in the first quarter with Mid-Carolina down by 14 at the end of the first quarter.

But the Rebels were not ready to give up and fought hard to slow down the Tigers.

The Rebels did begin to slow the Tigers down in the second quarter, but they still put more on the board but so did the Rebels.

The halftime score was 21 to 6 with the Rebels still down by 14.

Mid-Carolina came out after halftime ready to play and held the Tigers drive to a field goal, putting the Tigers three more points ahead, but with several good drives and a 30 yard pass to the end zone, the Rebels put six more on the board, but was unsuccessful on the two point conversion, making the score now 24 to 12.

Following the touchdown, the Rebels attempted an on side kick and recovered the ball with great field position.

The Rebels drove hard and with an attempt at another at a nice pass to the end zone, Saluda intercepted inside the five yard line.

The Rebels still held firm and forced a punt but ended up turning it over on downs back to the Tigers.

With two minutes left in the game the Tigers drove it into the end zone again to make the final score 31 to 12, with the Tigers on top.

The bright side to this game was that the Rebels did not give up and fought the battle to the end of the game and showed the heart they have.

The Rebels meet Batesburg-Leesville at Lon Armstrong Stadium for this week’s game.
