Lady Rebels defeat Saluda in varsity volleyball

PROSPERITY — The Lady Rebels varsity volleyball trounced over region AA-2 opponent Saluda Tuesday night, 3-0.

Match scores for the game were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-17. The Lady Rebels are now 9-2 overall for the season and 5-2 in region AA-2 and are currently tied for second place.

The team overall had a serving percentage of 94 percent for the night with 10 aces. Leaders in serving for the Rebels were Laken Riddle 14/14 with two aces, Kelsey Bailey 13/13 with one ace, Alix Green 17/18 with four aces, Ashley Lake 7/7, Chelsie Walling 7/8 with two aces, and Whitney McConnell 8/10 with one ace.

The digs leaders were Green with three, Walling with five and McConnell with three.

Passing leaders were Green 8/9, Riddle 5/5, McConnell 8/8, Walling 6/8, Bailey 5/7, Tori Caldwell 4/4, and Courtney Sanders 6/10.

Leading the Lady Rebels in hitting are Green 7/7, Walling 17/21, Bailey 8/8, Riddle 5/5 and Taylor Livingston 12/12.

Green with 14 and Lake with 19 lead in the kill assists.

The ladies with the most blocks were Livingston with five and Bailey with two.

The Lady Rebels traveled to Batesburg on Thursday and face the Lady Panthers for their second region match of the season.

During the evening, Mid-Carolina seniors were also recognized during senior night.

There are three seniors on the varsity team: Whitney McConnell, Chelsie Walling, and Kelsey Bailey.
