The first Brookland Community Kids Fun Day was held on Sept. 2 from 2-7 p.m. at the Vincent Street Park. The kids enjoyed the water fun provided by the Newberry Fire Department. NFD Lieutenant Stuart Smith along with Engineer Benji Morris and Explorer Nike Fowler were on hand to give the kids a fire safety lesson, information about free smoke detectors as well as a hands on lesson about engine number four. The kids learned a lot about a fire trucks and fire safety as well as what it takes to become an Explorer, like Fowler. The water fun was a great way to cool down from an afternoon of fun packed activities.

Children gathered in Vincent Street Park Sept. 2 to have fun and also learn. The event was a community event meant to bring people together in a safe environment. Here the children receive a lesson from the firemen about fire safety.
