GREENWOOD — Troy A. Shealy, 84, husband of Mildred Patterson Shealy, went to join the Lord on Dec. 17.

Born in Newberry, he was the eldest son of the late Clarence and Bertha Jones Shealy. Troy, a graduate of Newberry College, was an employee of Greenwood Mills for 34 years and a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Mark Methodist Church, where he was in the Adult I Sunday school class, a sixty-year member of the Masonic Lodge (Mathews #358 and previously Newberry Lodge), the Grand Master Deputy of the 11th Masonic District, a York Rite member for 25 years, a Cub Scout leader for 10 years, an assistant Boy Scout leader for 18 years, a Lion’s Club member, and an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Troy will be remembered as a servant of God who gave unselfishly of his love and time to others.

He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Liner (Blake) and Patricia Poole (Les) of Greenwood and a son, Troy Wayne Shealy (Denise) of Central; sisters, Col. Katherine Irene Shealy and Faye Mills of Newberry; brothers, Clarence Shealy Jr., and Robert Shealy of Newberry and Richard Shealy of Greenville; grandchildren, Chris Liner, Les Poole Jr. Andrea Poole, Patrick Liner, Angie Bradshaw, William Lewis, Beth Shealy, Abby Shealy and Troy Shealy; great-grandchildren, Kensley Bishop, Cade and Emma Liner, Caleb and Landon Liner, Holden Poole, Thomas Lewis, and Blakely Bradshaw.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19 at Harley Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Barrett Alewine. Burial followed in Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry.
