NEWBERRY – The Newberry College volleyball team has been selected to finish seventh in the South Atlantic Conference for the 2015 season.
The Wolves will start their season Sept. 4 against UNC Pembroke in the second annual Newberry College Invitational. Newberry will also play regional opponents Belmont Abbey, Francis Marion and Lees-McRae in the tournament.
Wingate has been picked as the top team in the SAC with 10 first place votes and 131 points overall, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne with 111 points. Newberry is in the seventh slot with 69 points, nine points behind Anderson who is picked sixth with 78 points. Catawba is predicted to finish eighth with 65 points and one first place vote.
Head coach Todd Hay is entering his fourth year at the helm and he looks to build on the team’s last few years of success during which he took the Wolves to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament in 2013. Hay has brought the team to this tournament two times in his three years as head coach.
