HARRISONBURG, Va. — Newberry College rising sophomore Danton Hyman has been named a Valley Baseball League All-Star as announced by the VBL.
In 18 games this summer for the Woodstock River Bandits, Hyman is batting .319 with 23 hits, 10 RBIs and nine steals. His average ranks 17th in the Valley League.
Hyman has had six multi-hit games this summer and started the summer on a six-game hitting streak that included a 5-for-6 night with four RBIs in the River Bandits’ 12-6 win over the New Market Rebels on June 9.
The 2016 Valley League All-Star Game will be played July 10 at James Madison University’s Veterans Memorial Park.
Hyman, a native of Prosperity and graduate of Mid-Carolina High School, started 41 games for the Wolves in his freshman season and was fourth on the team with a .326 average. He had 42 hits and drove in 21 runs, including a four-hit game vs. Lincoln Memorial.
