NEWBERRY — The Newberry College baseball team took the 10th spot this week in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Poll.

The Wolves went 2-1 against Anderson University defeating the Trojans in the Friday night single game 12-3. In the doubleheader on Saturday, Newberry won the first game 8-2 then fell in the second game of the day 8-7.

Lander moved to the first spot this week with a 35-11 record followed by Columbus State (Ga.) in second with 93 points and a 33-10 record.

USC Aiken moved up to third with 68 points and a 32-11 record, after being in fifth last week. After taking seventh last week, Erskine is in the fourth spot with a 34-11 record. Belmont Abbey is in fifth with 60 points, Tusculum is in sixth with 55 points and Catawba is in seventh with 43 points.

North Greenville improved to the eighth spot with 34 points while Augusta rounded out the ninth spot with a 27-14 record.

The Wolves travel to Greenwood on April 20 to take on Lander in their last non-conference matchup of the season. The single game will start 5 p.m.
