NEWBERRY — Newberry College head men’s soccer coach Bryce Cooper has announced the initial signees of the 2016 recruiting class.

“I am excited to usher in part of my first recruiting class here at Newberry College,” Cooper said in announcing his first recruiting class. “Each of these guys will help us change the culture and push for team objectives and goals. I am overjoyed at the quality both on and off the field that we’ve been able to bring in in my short time here. This class will help us usher in a new era of soccer at Newberry College.”

Cooper said Quintin Eisner from Sheboygan, Wis., is a very passionate and determined person and it shows on the field.

“He has a great engine and has the ability to create for himself and his teammates with his movement off the ball,” Cooper said. “He can play multiple positions up top and combines well in the attack. He is brave and willing to get on the end of crosses and will give us a great scoring threat for the next four years. I am thrilled to have him as a part of my first recruiting class here at Newberry.”

Eric Brody from Orlando, Fla., comes from a great soccer background and environment. His brother plays at the college level and his father coaches at a high level he has grown up seeing and understanding the game at a high level.

“Eric has been a part of some very high level teams over the years including most with Orlando City,” Cooper said. “He is a very smart and composed player who we will look to build around. He plays to his strengths and keeps the game very simple, but at the same time has the ability to break a team down with his passing range and accuracy.”

Cooper said Brody will help change the culture at Newberry College and be successful on and off the field.

Fredrik Kvifte from Baerum, Norway, has a soccer background and has played in some of the highest youth divisions in Norway. He has great versatility and can play almost anywhere along the back line.

“He is very technical, composed and his overall quality will allow him to transition easily to the college game, not to mention he is also a very bright student and should have a seamless transition in the classroom,” Cooper said. “We are looking forward to getting him here in the fall and seeing the immediate impact he makes.”

Cooper said Bryce Holdman from Lexington represents everything he wants the program to stand for both on and off the field.

“He is a high character young man who has an outstanding work rate, is a great teammate and is constantly seeking ways to better himself,” Cooper said. “He will help push himself and his teammates every day in training while representing the program well in every facet.”

Cooper said Holdman is committed to Newberry and what the school and soccer program represent.

“He will be a great addition to this program,” Cooper said.
