NEWBERRY — The Newberry College Field Hockey team was well represented academically with 20 student-athletes being named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.

Five student-athletes — Megan Eisenhardt, Alyssa Kessler, Mariah Lee, Haley Smith and Elise Utne — were named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II Scholars of Distinction.

This is the second time in the field hockey program’s four-year history the Wolves have had a player named a Scholar of Distinction as Megan Eisenhardt earned the honor for the second consecutive year from the coaches’ association. This is the first time in program history that multiple Newberry student-athletes have been honored as a Scholar of Distinction.

These student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year and have also been placed on the National Academic Squad.

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

Gabrielle Bazemore, Jessica Cooke, Kayla Cooke, Allison Davis, Megan Eisenhardt, Dakota Elzy, Olivia Fraunfelter, Meghan Jolikko, Brady Keeler, Alyssa Kessler, Mariah Lee, Kristyna Oyola, Amber Singer, Haley Smith, Shannon Springer, Talya Stocksdale, Katie Thompson, Elise Utne, Caitlyn Warren and Courtlyn Warren were named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.
