HARTSVILLE — Newberry men’s tennis opened up South Atlantic Conference play with a 7-2 victory over Coker. The Wolves have now won five games in a row.

Newberry moves to 9-2 overall, 1-0 SAC while Coker drops to 3-2 overall, 1-1 SAC.

Newberry swept doubles play over the Cobras. Jordan Monosky and Edison Ambarzumjan were at 8-1 winners at No. 1 while Nikhil Mannepalli and Angel Pizarro were also 8-1 winners at No. 2. Richard Zeh and Logan Adkins recorded an 8-4 win at No. 3.

The Wolves won four of six singles matches. Monosky scored a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and Mannepalli notched a 6-2, 7-6 (5) decision at No. 3. Adkins used three sets to dispatch his opponent 4-6, 6-3, (10-5) at No. 5. Zeh rounded out the match with an 8-7 win at No. 6.

Newberry will host Catawba (6-4) on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
