NEWBERRY – Eastern College Athletic Conference co-champion Newberry has been ranked No. 22 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll released by D2Wrestle.com Monday afternoon.

The Wolves wrapped up their second conference championship in as many years in the league with a 28-11 win over Emmanuel Thursday night inside Eleazer Arena. Newberry will next compete at the Super Region 2 Tournament in Indianapolis Friday and Saturday.

Three Newberry individuals are also ranked at the national level. Huston Evans leads the group with a No. 5 ranking at 174 pounds. The senior is 20-5 on the year and earned his sixth fall of the season in Newberry’s title-clinching win over Emmanuel.

Trung Duong is currently ranked eighth in the 125-pound weight class. His record stands at 21-3, including an impressive 17-1 mark in duals. Jordan Simpson lands at No. 9 in the rankings at 133 pounds. The Oxford, Alabama native is now 22-7 this season following his fifth win in ECAC competition against Emmanuel.
