NEWBERRY — Newberry College Cheer will hold its annual cheer camp from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 11 in Mclean Gym.
The Newberry College Cheer Camp is designed to build basic fundamentals of cheerleading in a positive atmosphere. The camp is designed to teach basic motions, jumps, stunting and basic tumbling skills.
Participants will be taught Newberry College cheer routines, which will be performed at halftime of the men’s basketball game. Tumbling and stunting will be incorporated into the itinerary. Basic tumbling and stunting will be taught and spotted by members of the Newberry College cheerleading team.
The fee of $30 includes one child admission to the men’s and women’s basketball games that day at Eleazer Arena.
Two cheer and dance competitions have also been announced for the Spring. The Canam College Championships will take place March 17 in Myrtle Beach and the National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals will take place in Daytona Beach, Fla., from April 5 to April 8.
