Lady Wolves finish 26th in cross country championships

MONTEVALLO, Ala. — The Newberry women’s cross country team finished 26th overall in the NCAA DII Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.

The University of Montevallo was the host for the 6k distance race.

Newberry finished with 690 points, one spot behind SAC foe Tusculum. The Wolves finished ahead of S.C. Aiken who rounded out the 27-team meet with 776 points.

Sophomore Michelle Ling led the way for Newberry recording a time of 25:32.90 and finishing 123rd overall.

Ling was followed by Emily Shuler who finished with a time of 25:52.56. Rebecca Burkhart followed up with a time of 26:34.39. Freshman Brittani Barratt recorded a time of 26:40.17. Hayden Francis rounded out the Newberry top 5 with a time of 26:43.01.

Also competing for Newberry was sophomore Katy Crout with a time of 28:10.83, and freshman Alyssa White at 29:21.34.

Host Montevallo came in first with 41 points, 6 ahead of SAC Conference Champions Queens.
