PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina High School provided the following sports updates:

Cross-country runners Maddie Huffstetler and Alana Eargle finished first and second overall against Batesburg-Leesville on Oct. 4. Ninth-grader Maddie Huffstetler ran the course in 22 minutes while 10th-grader Alana Eargle completed the course in just under 25 minutes.

In the boys race, ninth-grader Drew Bunce ran his fastest time of the season while finishing third with a time of 22 minutes.

In volleyball, Mid-Carolina defeated Broome High School 3-2 on Sept. 13 at home to go 6-0 on the year and 1-0 in region action.

In girls tennis, the Rebels defeated Chapman on Oct. 13 to finish region play undefeated.

The swim team had a meet on Oct. 15.

In the boys 200 medley relay, Preston Farmer, Ben Hawkins, Hunter Werts and Jonathan Richardson dropped 2.58 seconds to finish ninth.

In the girls 200 free relay, middle schoolers Dori Pitts, Katie Belle Barbour, Eliza Jane Shepherd, Ella DeNicola dropped 2.18 seconds to finish 11th.

Ella DeNicola finished 16th in the 200 Individual Medley after dropping 9.42 seconds and 12th in 100 breaststroke after dropping 1.69 seconds.

Preston Farmer finished 19th in 50 freestyle and 23rd in 100 meter breaststroke while Ben Hawkins finished third in the 200 freestyle after dropping 3.04 seconds and fifth in the 500 freestyle after dropping 2.03 seconds.

Dori Pitts finished 21st in 200 Individual Medley after dropping 1.71 seconds and Jonathan Richardson finished 27th in the 50 freestyle.

Hunter Werts finished 13th in 100 butterfly (dropped 0.69 seconds) and 20th in the 100 backstroke.

Six team records were broken this year during the 2016 SCHSL swim season for Mid-Carolina while several others were close to being broken.
