CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kathy Fisher scored two goals for Queens just two minutes apart, as the Royals (7-5, 5-3) defeated Newberry (5-9-1, 2-5-1) 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Fisher notched the first Queens goal in the 52nd minute off a headed through ball from teammate Charlotte Ring. Fisher then added her seventh goal of the season in the 54th minute after beating the outstretched hands of Newberry goalkeeper KodiJean Johnson.

Johnson ended the match with five saves, as Queens unloaded a total of 20 shots on the pitch. Seven of those shots were on frame.

The Wolves’ recorded nine shots on the evening, three of which were on goal. Erika Linch led the Newberry squad with three shots in the match. Morgan Powers and Alyssa Ortega recorded two shots apiece.

Queens has now pushed their record to 6-1 this season when they play at home.

The Wolves will travel to Brevard on Oct. 19. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
