NEWBERRY — The Newberry High School Bulldogs are prepping for tonight’s game against Clinton High School after a 31-21 loss against Broome High School last week.
Newberry is now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in region play. The Red Devils currently have an overall 3-4 record and a 1-1 record in region play.
“We didn’t play very well last week. So this week in practice, we’ve been focusing on holding onto the ball more,” Coach Phil Strickland said. “We’ve have a good week of practice this week. Both the offense and defense are looking good.”
This week in practice, Strickland has been focusing on correcting mistakes that were made during last week’s face off against Broome.
“We’ve been working on not missing tackles and, like I said, just holding onto the football,” he said.
In past meetings, the Bulldogs and Red Devils have been back and forth when it comes to match ups. The Red Devils are going into Friday’s game after a 45-7 win against Mid-Carolina last week.
“They’re a pretty good football team. It’s always a good rivalry. They’re very strong on defense, so that’s something we’ll have to watch out for,” he said.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Newberry.
