SPARTANBURG – The Newberry men’s cross-country team finished fourth out of five Division II teams competing at the USC Upstate Invitational on Saturday in the 8k distance.

The team ran with an average time of 28:40.90 and total time of 143:24.50. Newberry finished ahead of Columbia International.

Leading the way for the Wolves’ was sophomore Caleb Bouwkamp with a time of 28:08.77. He was followed by freshman Quinn Wilson who ran with a time of 28:34.36 and junior Charlie Cook with a time of 28:36.82.

Also competing for Newberry were runners Shelton Reynolds, a freshman, with a time of 28:42.48. Freshman Jorge Hernandez at 29:22.07, freshman Mondricous Hatton at 29:53.82, and senior Connor Roudabush with a time of 29:56.70.

Freshman Carlos Hernandez finished with a time of 30:52.78. Robert Stafford, a sophomore, with a time of 31:31.84, senior Taylor Dennard at 31:45.55, and junior Seth Howeat 33:04.40.

Newberry is set to run next Oct. 14 in the 8k distance at Augusta Invitational at Blanchard Woods Park.
