NEWBERRY — The Newberry Academy Eagles are taking on the Charleston Collegiate School Sundevils tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the the Academy. This will be the first time the two teams have played each other.

The Eagles are currently 1-3 and the Sundevils are 1-2.

“They are a spread team that likes to throw the ball, number 80 is a very good athlete and receiver,” said Benji Sease, head coach of the Eagles. “Our pass coverage has to be better than it was last week. We got burned on several long throws last week. We also need to get a better pass rush this week.”

Sease added that the Sundevils are both a physical and a speed team. He said they have some huge, physical lineman and quick, fast skill players.

Last week the team had several possessions where they moved the ball, but could not finish and score so this week, they’ve concentrated on that.

When it comes to defense, Sease said they have worked a lot on pass coverage and also getting an effective pass rush to help them be more competitive during tonight’s game.

Sease believes that no matter who wins tonight, this will be a close game.

“I am most looking forward to seeing if we have improved any since the game last week. We played hard last week, but came up short,” he said.
