The 2012 Diann S. Nance Memorial Golf Tournament was held April 21 at the Country Club of Newberry. Timothy Hunter founded the tournament in memory of his mother. In addition to the golf winners, a scholarship has been formed for first year teachers in the Newberry County School District.

On Saturday, May 5 the S.C. Youth Shooting Foundation and 4-H held their annual sporting clays state championship at Backwoods Quail Gun Club in Georgetown. Newberry College vice president for intercollegiate athletics Brad Edwards has announced changes to the coaching staff for the Wolves’ softball program. Ciria Triplett will replace Joe Elston as the team’s head coach in an interim status, effective immediately. Elston coached at Newberry eight seasons with a record of 186-200-2.
