The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation golf tournament will be held May 20 at the Country Club of Newberry with a 9:30 a.m. start time. The foundation is a part of the Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board and is named for Pugh, one of the first special education teachers in Newberry County. One of the prizes is a car from Stokes-Trainor in Newberry if someone gets a hole-in-one on a designated hole. The Chapin Chamber of Commerce has a golf tournament May 16 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. and registration at 9 a.m. The tournament is at Timberlake Country Club. The sixth annual Mission Golf Tournament is set for May 18 at the Whitmire Golf Course. The tournament is sponsored by First Baptist of Whitmire and breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. and the tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. From left are Stokes-Trainor’s Joe Trainor and Jim Moss.
