NEWBERRY — The Newberry Fire Department will be investigating the cause of a Friday afternoon fire that damaged a shop and garage on Wallace Street.
Fire Chief Keith Minick said the fire was in the subdivision behind Burger King on Main Street. The fire damaged the side of a home nearby but the shop was a total loss, he said.
“We hope to continue investigating this week to determine the cause of the fire,” said Minick.
Minick said no one was in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The Friendly Fire Department, Newberry Rescue Squad and the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
