Newberry County Sheriff’s deputies and bloodhounds were searching for a man in the Helena community around 5 p.m. Thursday.
The man had on a white T-shirt and black jeans and ran from deputies.
He also has three active warrants against him, according to reports.
The chase was called off after an hour or so due to the heat.
Officers did not want the humans or the bloodhounds to suffer from heat related illnesses in the 100 degree temperatures.
