The third event in the free Summer concert series is taking place on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Memorial Park, historic downtown Newberry.
The 208th Army Reserve Band is stationed out of Concord, N.C. and is committed to providing espirit de corps for the fighting forces and in serving as a goodwill ambassador throughout North and South Carolina.
The 208th is under the direction of Timothy Lyden who currently resides in Chapin and is the principal of Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School.
Lyden entered active duty in 1985 and has been assigned to such posts as the Eighth United States Army Band in Seoul, South Korea and the 282nd Army Band out of Fort Jackson.
He is an excellent and accomplished trumpet player.
Bring friends and lawnchairs to enjoy the 208th Army Band’s night of honoring our nation’s history with a program of marches, popular music, show tunes and jazz.
The concert is free and open to the public.
