A Newberry man pleaded guilty last week to six burglary charges and was sentenced to over 12 years in prison.
Zirclonzo Timain Washington, 21, of 107 Boundary St., Newberry, pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary, five counts of grand larceny, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, safecracking, possession of a stolen pistol and criminal conspiracy.
Washington was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison for the crimes.
Eighth Circuit Solicitor Jerry Peace says both the burglary and the safecracking charges are considered serious crimes and the burglaries are considered a violent offenses.
Washington committed the crimes over the past year across Newberry County and there were a number of victims involved, said Peace.
Washington was arrested in October and has been in the Newberry County Detention Center since the arrest.
