NEWBERRY — The first reading for the rezoning of Speers Street School property to Planned Development was approved in Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. The property is surrounded by Chapman Street, Kibler Street, Speers Street and Pop Terrace.
A public hearing will be held at next month’s City Council meeting on June 11. After the public reading, a second reading will be held. If the second reading passes, the planned development will be approved in June.
“It’s a great use for the building, and it will be good to get it reoccupied,” said Ward Braswell, planning and development director.
